The 2022 VMAs are happening tonight (like, literally right now) and obviously there’s one question on everyone’s mind: Will Beyoncé, blessed be her name, show up and perform songs from her new album Renaissance. Answer: TBD.
While Bey didn’t walk the always-iconic VMAs red carpet this year, there have been persistent rumors that she (or, more specifically, she and Madonna) could show up and surprise everyone with a performance of “Break My Soul (The Queen’s Remix).” Mostly due to this post from @deuxmoi, which speculated that they’d be in attendance:
However! Beyoncé was on vacation with her family in Croatia as of Monday of last week, and TMZ got photos of them chilling on a yacht. Meanwhile, @deuxmoi followed up her initial post with this:
So…what’s going on?
It’s definitely possible that Beyoncé returned from Croatia in time to rehearse for the VMAs with or without Madonna, but…IDK, she seems to be in vacation mode with her family as of just six days ago. Either way, Twitter is full of theories on the subject, and there’s even speculation that Beyoncé could premiere the official “Break My Soul” music video during the show, and then drop her entire visual album. Which would make this the best night ever and would also guarantee that I show up to work tomorrow on absolutely no sleep.
