Stacey Solomon, 32, giggled after her comments about how precarious fame can be were related back to This Morning stars Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. It comes as Stacey and her husband Joe Swash have been at the centre of rumours that they could replace the presenting duo when the time is right.
Speaking on Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe’s Parenting Hell podcast, Stacey touched on her career and how the public opinion on celebrities is in constant change.
She said sometimes famous people are “really popular,” but this can change within seconds, as “everyone will hate you”.
The Loose Women star also revealed that she and husband Joe try to make the most of their exposure and accept as many gigs as possible.
She said: “I genuinely in this industry think to myself, ‘Sometimes you’ll be really busy and really popular and sometimes no one will care who you are and everyone will hate you, right?’
“And also it’s not like you can get yourself a promotion and be like, ‘Right, I’ve sorted myself out, I’ve worked my way to the top…’”
Comedian Rob, who is close friends with Stacey’s beau Joe, interrupted: “Well, look at Holly and Phil, like, within one day…”
Stacey simply giggled at her friend’s jibe over the queue-gate scandal surrounding Holly and Phil, before continuing: “It’s so hard, it’s so hard. It’s not an industry that is secure in any way possible.
“So, me and Joe always say to each other, ‘When work’s coming in and we’re lucky enough to get jobs we’ve got to just go for it.’
“And we want a family, and we have a family, so we’ve got to just make it work and make it happen.”
According to a source, This Morning executives have been keen on having Stacey join the ITV show “for a long time”.
The source claimed the mum-of-four had started talking to bosses “several months ago”.
“She’s a huge hit on Loose Women and has a broad appeal among all age groups who watch ITV,” the source told Closer Magazine.
“Stacey actually started talking to This Morning bosses several months ago and they made clear they saw a role for both her and Joe to work as part of the programme in the future.
“ITV bosses have long been planning for what life looks like after Phil and Holly, because they know nothing lasts forever on TV.”
Rumours of a replacement for the popular TV pair intensified after they sparked backlash last month over accusations of jumping the queue at Westminster Hall to see the Queen’s coffin earlier this month.
The backlash led to 75,000 people signing a petition to have them sacked from the show.
The presenters are now said to be “wounded” by the situation and “worried” about their relationship with viewers.
Holly addressed the accusations during a segment on the Queen’s funeral, saying: “Like hundreds of accredited broadcasters and journalists, we were given official permission to access the hall.
“It was strictly for the purpose of reporting on the event for millions of people in the UK, who haven’t been able to visit Westminster in person.
“The rules were that we would be quickly escorted around the edges to a platform at the back, in contrast, those paying respects walked along a carpeted area beside the coffin and were given time to pause.”
