Stacey Solomon’s sister Jemma shares secret battle with mental health disorder

Stacey Solomon says she’s going on a ‘spa night’ with her sister

Jemma Solomon, 35, has opened up on suffering anxiety after childbirth and how it has impacted her daily life.

The 35-year-old Essex is not only a social media sensation, but a self-taught success in the business world, known for her bespoke label company, The Label Lady.

Jemma admits to facing several challenges along the way, including having issues with anxiety, and says that mum guilt remains a daily battle.

In 2020 she established The Label Lady and created an Instagram account to sell her vinyl decals.

But it was the birth of her eldest daughter Darcy that led Jemma to first find an appreciation of tidiness and order after she started suffering from anxiety.

She told OK magazine: “I believe it was caused by the trauma of the birth, but it wasn’t until much later I realised I needed professional help.”

Jemma tried to carry on as normal until a girls’ holiday to Ibiza when Darcy was four months old triggered a reality check.

“I was having the best time, but it felt like I was detached from reality,” she said.

“It made me realise just how bad things were.

“When I returned home I immediately felt like I had a dark cloud over my head.”

She saw her GP and, as her anxiety fuelled a conviction that medication would make the situation worse, she was referred for therapy and attended weekly sessions for 10 months.

Jemma was initially a paediatric nurse until 2019 when she stepped down from her full-time role to take part-time shifts so she and her husband Lee could save on rising childcare costs.

Last month Jemma released her book Love Lists and Labels, announcing the milestone with a picture of her book cover on Instagram.

She typed: “I am so so so excited, nervous, happy, emotional, but most of all PROUD to show you all the front cover of my new book.”

“I really hope you all love it as much as I do, the writing will be in metallic foil and I cannot WAIT until I have a real version in my hands to show you all, but for now here it is … Love Lists and Labels, ready to pre-order now for release on the 22nd June 2023.”
