Strictly: Angela reacts after performing her American Smooth
As Halloween week approaches on Strictly Come Dancing, Angela Scanlon has spoken out about her progress during the show.
Speaking to the Mirror she discussed how she hasn’t noticed the toned body or weight loss that other celebrities experience during the Strictly experience.
She said: “I mean, I don’t know if I’ve got a dancer’s bum yet. I have a flat nana’s bum! We had a trick in our Charleston that involved a handstand, and we did one run-through and we decided to call it a day after because my arms literally just collapsed underneath me.
“But I feel quite strong, and I realise I haven’t done proper exercise in a committed way for a very long time. So, actually, it’s quite nice to feel strong in my body and push myself. It’s intense. The hours that you are putting in are insane. You do realise very quickly when you’re actually dancing with someone who’s a pro, and it looks so easy. And that’s the gift, isn’t it? They’ve worked for 20 years to make it look absolutely effortless.
Before going on to explain how she feels, the pro dancers make her look: “And then you do it and you look like a donkey in a barn. Viewers only see us on Saturday night, Carlos is like, ‘Oh yeah, it’s definitely a process’. And it is definitely a process.”

Angela is partnered with professional dancer Carlos Gu.
The couple will be taking to the dance floor this week to perform the Paso Doble to Black Swan by District 78.
Last week, they danced the American Smooth to To Cherish by Madonna and received mixed feedback from the judges.

“For me moving forward, we need more details there was definitely no breath in the upper half of the body like exhale let it out particularly when you came back close to Carlos.”
Whilst Craig Revel Horwood was disappointed by the performance saying: “Obviously the clue to this dance is in the name America Smooth and smooth it wasn’t unfortunately.
“It just lacked grace that’s something you really need I think that’s what we’re all saying, actually and I have to say I felt like you had run out of ideas at the end just that running about didn’t impress me at all to finish on.”
Before ending his comments by saying: “I don’t think it’s your best.”
Viewers were disappointed with the comments, with many taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to blast the judges for their harsh feedback.

A second posted: “What exactly has got Craig’s goat tonight? He’s being extra horrid for no reason. Not fair #Strictly.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight on BBC One at 6.45pm.
