Former Strictly Come Dancing star Debbie McGee asked fans for help after she was left stranded due to her car breaking down this week. The radio presenter took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to document the “ridiculous” situation which prompted many of her followers to try and help.
In a series of tweets, Debbie, 65, began by saying she had been waiting four and a half hours for her breakdown company to arrive and asked fans if they could also alert them for her. After many stepped in to help, she followed up her post, adding: “Thanks for all your help everyone.
“I’m safe but worried as tracker doesn’t seem to be updating. I’m on hold on the phone now, 20 minutes so far. Good job I’m not stranded somewhere dangerous.” In a third tweet, Debbie said she was now “on hold” on the phone and was hoping to “cancel” with the company, branding the situation “ridiculous”.
“I’m home but they are still not answering so I can cancel,” she shared in her final tweet on Tuesday evening. In an update this morning, the ex Strictly star said she was still yet to get through on the phone and that her patrol arrival had kept being pushed back.
The company has since been in contact with Debbie to resolve the issue. The former magician’s assistant faced the situation after appearing on Strictly: It Takes Two alongside Ore Oduba and Mark Wright on Monday evening.

Debbie, who competed on the show with Giovanni Pernice, shared her thoughts on this year’s finalists Layton Williams, Ellie Leach and Bobby Brazier. Reflecting on the moment she made it to the same stage in 2017, she shared: “It was exhausting, you are exhausted by then.
“I was rehearsing for panto at the same time and was going up and down to York. So yeah. you don’t know how you’re going to have the energy to do it.” Despite this Debbie said, “you’ve just go to enjoy it” and hoped this year’s final three were doing so.

Of Layton, she added: “Layton is just outstanding isn’t he, he’s just incredible. And his Charleston, that really was amazing.” Debbie went on to say it was also nice to see Ellie come out of shell as the weeks have gone on, describing the actress as “a bit of a fireball”.
Debbie was one of the favourites to win the show six years ago, but despite her best efforts, she missed out on the Glitterball trophy to Joe McFadden and Katya Jones. She has since kept in contact with Giovanni and reunited with him at the semi-final last weekend.
Taking to her Instagram page, Debbie shared a picture of the pair embracing each other’s company with a big hug as Giovanni placed a kiss on her cheek. Alongside the picture, she wrote: “I had a wonderful evening at the Strictly quarter-finals on Saturday, and being reunited with my wonderful dance partner, Giovanni Pernice.”
