Janette Manrara misses baby daughter Lyra
Strictly’s Janette Manrara has shared her heartache over being separated from her baby girl, Lyra, who is only four-months-old.
She admitted that her busy schedule has taken its toll, as she’s struggled to be away from her daughter, whom she shares with fellow pro-dancer Aljaž Škorjanec, for two days.
Janette revealed that this week, she hit the road for her dance tour in Belfast and upon her return to London, had to race to the set to film her Strictly spin off show, It Takes two.
Taking to her Instagram stories, she told her 598,000 followers: “We [she and Aljaž] were in Belfast yesterday dancing in Winter Wonderland and it went down so well.
“We couldn’t go last year because Aljaž got really ill… but we decided to not bring Lyra to Belfast. Just did not have to get her on a flight and do all that for just one day. So she stays home with my mum and then this morning I flew into London from Belfast for It Takes Two tonight.
“So the schedule’s pretty crazy… and I really miss Lyra. I didn’t see her all day yesterday and I won’t see her until tomorrow, so looking forward to cuddling her ASAP.

“So yes, really missing Lyra – these two days away from her are tough and she’s getting into that phase where she really knows me and Aljaž, so when she sees us, her eyes light up and she smiles right at us… going up and down the country and also having Lyra in our lives – it’s been a puzzle, to say the least, to sort!
“But we have such an amazing team behind us and obviously with my mum here to help us with Lyra, it’s just been really special for the two of them.”
Janette recently confessed to having a “sense of guilt” about returning to work six weeks after the birth of her daughter in July, following cruel comments from online trolls.
BBC Morning Live shared a clip to their 32,000 followers in which the new mum discussed the negative messages that she had received from some people.

The clip opened with pictures of the happy family, as Janette, 40, acknowledged: “We are so happy. It’s a dream come true for us.”
She went on to explain that the couple had decided she would return to work while her husband Aljaz would take on the majority of the care for Lyra.
“Then six weeks after giving birth, I returned to the Morning Live studio,” she said. “I was excited and I felt really empowered being a working mum for the first time. But some people had other views.
“I have had a few negative comments on social media about going back to work,” she acknowledged and proceeded to read out a few of them.
“Comments like these do give me a sense of guilt because I do spend time away from Lyra,” she heartbreakingly confessed.
“But I also think parents’ situations are all completely different and they must do what’s best for their children.”
