Tony Adams, 55, apologised to his Strictly Come Dancing partner Katya Jones, 33, yesterday after he dropped her in spectacular fashion during rehearsals. The former Arsenal player also made reference to the time he dropped his teammate Steve Morrow, 52, and broke his arm.
The sports star is one of 15 celebrities to take part in Strictly this year with his attempts to wow the judges with his dance moves.
Tony and Katya came bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 15 out of 40 but were saved from the dance-off by the public vote.
Taking to Twitter on October 3, the football manager posted some pictures of himself performing the Charleston with Katya to the tune My Old Man’s A Dustman by Foster & Allen.
He told his 86,300 followers: “That was a little bit better – but a lot more fun.
“Thanks to everyone who voted for me – am trying my hardest to get it right, but at times I revert to type.
“Scroll to see my Stevie Morrow moment in training,” he added, tweeting a clip from rehearsals.
Above the video, he issued an apology, writing: “Sorry @Mrs_katjones (and Steve. Still sorry after all these years…)”
In the clip, Tony can be seen holding Katya on one shoulder before losing his balance and swinging her into a dustbin.
Katya lay outstretched on the floor for a minute, before springing back up and brushing it off like a pro.
During the video, a red arrow could also be seen pointing to Katya that read “Steve Morrow”.
This was Tony’s reference to the time he dramatically dropped his teammate following the 1993 League Cup final.
That year, Arsenal were victorious in their match against Sheffield Wednesday, but things quickly took a turn as the post-match celebrations on the pitch became dangerous.

Arsenal were riding high after beating Sheffield Wednesday in the finals of both the FA Cup and League Cup.
Steve was the hero of the hour in the latter final, scoring the winning goal at Wembley.
However, after the final whistle had sounded, Tony made a blunder in his attempts to celebrate the win, injuring his teammate in the process.
The team captain attempted to lift the midfielder onto his shoulders, but dropped him from a height onto the turf.
As a result, Steve broke his arm and had to be rushed to hospital strapped with an oxygen mask, as his teammates had to climb the Wembley steps to accept the cup.
Steve recovered and received a winner’s medal ahead of the FA Cup final a month later.
Meanwhile, Strictly recently saw its couples take to the floor for the second week in a row and had its first elimination on Sunday.
Loose Women’s Kaye Adams was the first out with her partner Kai Widdrington after a dance-off with Matt Goss and his partner Nadiya Bychkova.
Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
