The Chase: Contestants win £20,000 in final chase
The Chase star Paul Sinha has offered some words of comfort to his co-star Mark Labbett.
Mark, who is also known as The Beast on the hit ITV daytime show, had recently taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to reveal he had a “breakdown” before playing against a “star team” during a recent episode.
Posting on the social media site to his 156,000 followers, Mark, 58, wrote: “I had a breakdown prior to the final chase, was utterly demoralised by yet another star team 🙁 #thechase.” (sic)
He continued in another post: “I still applauded and congratulated the team but it was edited out 🙁 #thechase.” (sic)
Paul quickly stepped in to support his fellow quizzer, writing: “It’s easily lost we’re not robots, we’re human beings trying our best. Whatever you see on screen is a snapshot of us at an unspecified moment sometime in the last 18 months.“

He went on to add: “We could have been under stress for any number of reasons, much of [which] may be long forgotten.”
One fan also added: “Ability to do your job, we all have that on our differing levels, and yours is broadcast to millions. Be proud of what you’ve done and take a bad day as a bad day. And remember that what you do brings such solace to people like me.”
Before another fan commented: “Must be hard to be at your best on every occasion, especially when you know you have given a silly answer. Time for a break?”
Whilst a third continued to support by posting: “Keep the faith, come back stronger.”

However, not everyone had sympathy for Mark, with one fan of the show writing: “They were a good team that actually played as a team.“
Whilst a third penned: “You didn’t take defeat well…no interaction with Bradley afterward.”
The show in question saw a team of three beat Mark in the final Chase, taking home a whopping £20,000 between them.
The team who initially got a total of 20 questions right, managed to get five pushbacks that helped lead them to victory.
Fans noticed something was up when host Bradley Walsh, 63, didn’t didn’t cut back to Mark to discuss the final chase. Instead, he asked what the winning contestants would spend their £6,666 on before signing off, saying: “Run off into the sunset. You’ve not been caught, you’ve outrun the chaser. Well played.”
The Chase airs weekdays at 6pm on ITV.
