Victoria Beckham was left frightened and scared to leave her house after a stalker tried to pick her daughter Harper up from school, a court has heard.
Sharon Bell, 58, had been sending threatening letters to Victoria's husband David over a five month period last year, even turning up to their Oxfordshire and London homes.
This culminated in Bell showing up at Harper's school on Friday 19 November, claiming to be her mother and "was there to pick her up."
Speaking about how this has affected Victoria, prosecutor Arizuna Asante said: "She is now scared to go out. It has made it hard for her. She is worried, especially when Harper goes on school trips.”
He then read out a statement from Victoria to Westminster magistrates' court that read: “The school called me asking if Harper could be collected early. I went with security.
“At the school the police attended and arrested the female. I did not speak to her but saw her as we were leaving.
“I have not seen her before or recognise her. The incident made me feel upset and frightened.”
The court heard Bell was fixated with ex-England footballer David, 47, and first sent a handwritten letter to the family’s Oxfordshire home on July 5, 2021, telling him she planned to come to the house days later.
In his own statement, David wrote that he had become increasingly worried about the language used in Sharon's letters.
"The letters were becoming increasingly threatening and obviously the female knew where I lived. It made me worried about what she would do next," he said.
In a letter dated back to Tuesday 5 October, Sharon wrote: "I want to thank you for your support when I had a smear test just over two years ago.
"I really want to chat with you David. I felt so much pain, I was very sore and was bleeding a little.
“I am sending a couple more books to Harper at your London address so please make sure she gets them."
She then went on to ask if David would like to wait for her in the car while she has blood tests at the doctors.
Sharon, of Watford, was charged with stalking but did not face a criminal trial because she has a mental disorder.
District Judge Michael Snow said he was satisfied she had carried out the criminal conduct and made an order to detain Bell, who appeared in court by video-link, under the Mental Health Act.
He referred to the 'rather frightening thought' of her researching Beckham's address and the "chilling words" used in her letters.
"He became frightened for the safety of his family, being concerned to what Ms Bell might do next" the judge added.
