The scariest thing about being on the set of Stranger Things season 5 will not be any of the monsters/generally terrifying plot points—at least not for Millie Bobby Brown. Nope, her fears about returning to the set are several thousand times more relatable and anxiety-driven than that.
Millie is apparently terrified that she’s going to constantly break a very basic acting rule (so much so that she’s literally having nightmares about it), and it’s all thanks to her starring role in Netflix’s Enola Holmes series. If you haven’t seen the Enola Holmes movies, you should absolutely go watch them ASAP because they’re great, but in the meantime, know that Millie stars as super sleuth Enola Holmes. And yes, the character *is* related to Sherlock Holmes (she’s his little sister), but the important thing to know about Enola for now is that she beaks the fourth wall frequently, addressing the audience directly with hilarious/pointed commentary about the action onscreen.
After filming an entire movie full of “look straight into the camera” moments, Millie now says she’s worried that she won’t be able to kick the habit in future—like when she returns to the Stranger Things set, for example.
During a Q&A at the Enola Holmes 2 premiere in New York City this week, Millie said Enola’s fourth wall-breaking made her feel like she was “vlogging on YouTube all day long.”
“While filming, I had a dream that I was on the set of Stranger Things, and I couldn’t stop looking at the camera,” she explained (per People). “And now, I have this deep-rooted fear that now I will never stop looking at the camera. So now, I’m so obsessed with it.”
While we’re pretty sure Millie was *mostly* joking about the whole “deep-rooted fear that I’ll suddenly be bad at my job” thing, we also fully relate to having nagging (even if somewhat irrational) work-related angst, so *HUGS TO MILLIE* and, in the meantime, we’ll casually drop the Enola Holmes 2 trailer here to give you a tiny taste of the Deadpool-esque fourth wall-breaking that is currently haunting Millie’s anxiety nightmares:
