Why Taylor Swift isnt performing at Glastonbury despite being on the line up

Glastonbury Festival is already into its third day with founder Michael Eavis promising music lovers that this year's line up would be the "best show in town".

The iconic festival, which runs from June 22 to June 26 has made its long awaited return after it was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.

However, although Michael has managed to attract almost all of his big names back one headline act who appears on the official line-up will not be appearing after originally agreeing to hit the Pyramid Stage in 2020.

Many fans were disappointed to hear that Taylor Swift will not be part of this year's festival.

It has been reported that the singer-songwriter "politely declined" to perform at this year's Glastonbury in order to focus on her new music.

"Taylor politely declined when she was approached because the timing just isn’t right at the moment," a source told The Sun.

"Of course, she would absolutely love to headline at some point. It is still on her bucket list but performing isn’t her priority right now.

"She has old albums which she is still working on re-recording and getting those finished is her priority."

Despite declining to appear at this year's festival, Tat-Tay has certainly not ruled out performing at the iconic Pyramid Stage in the future.

"I wanted to perform in places I hadn’t performed in as much, do things I hadn’t done — like Glastonbury," she said.

"I haven’t done festivals, really, since early in my career.

"They’re fun and bring people together in a really cool way. It’s so sad. But I know it’s the right decision."

But it's not as if festivalgoers are spoilt for choice with Billie Eilish set to headline Glastonbury on Friday, following a performance from Sam Fender and Wolf Alice.

Saturday will see music legends Paul McCartney and Noel Gallagher take to the Pyramid, with Megan Thee Stallion and Olivia Rodrigo performing on the 'other stage'.

Finally, to round off this year's festival Kendrick Lamar, Lorde and Elbow will bring the celebrations to an end on Sunday.
