Zendaya responds to pregnancy rumors after viral video, plus more news

Zendaya weighs in on rumors she and Tom Holland are expecting

A TikTok featuring what appeared to be a screenshot of an ultrasound on Zendaya’s Instagram, the words, “I love you. halfway there,” and Tom Holland’s tagged name went viral this week, fueling a rumor the “Spider-Man” stars and IRL partners are expecting their first child together. That rumor met the beginning of its end on Wednesday, June 15, when Zendaya popped on her Instagram Stories to respond to the claim. “See now, this is why I stay off Twitter,” she wrote, per Elle. “Just making stuff up for no reason weekly.” In another post, the “Euphoria” star made it clear she’d moved on from the chatter. “Anyway, back to filming Challengers,” she wrote. Users promoting the “Zendaya pregnant” Twitter trend, by the way, either ignored or failed to notice the end of the faux-ultrasound TikTok … which makes it clear it was a prank. Earlier this month, Zendaya made a rare public gesture in her romance with Tom when she shared a sweet Instagram message in honor of his 26th trip around the sun. “Happiest of birthdays to one who makes me the happiest,” she wrote.

Kim Kardashian accused of damaging Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress at 2022 Met Gala

Kim Kardashian came under fire this week for allegedly damaging Marilyn Monroe’s iconic, custom, crystal-bedecked gown when she wore it on the red carpet at the 2022 Met Gala. Photos of the dress, made famous when Marilyn wore it in 1962 while singing “Happy Birthday Mr. President” to John F. Kennedy, appeared on Marilyn collector Scott Fortner’s “The Marilyn Monroe Collection” Instagram account on Monday, June 13. When compared with a “before” pic of the dress, the new image appears to show pulling at the zipper, a few dangling threads and missing crystals, among other damage. “So much for keeping ‘the integrity of the dress and the preservation,’ @ripleysbelieveitornot,” Scott wrote in the caption, asking, “Was it worth it?” The new photos were reportedly taken by Chadmichael Morrisette, a self-described visual artist and museum and costume exhibit curator, who tells the Daily Beast he viewed the dress on Sunday while visiting the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Museum, which loaned it to Kim for her Met Gala appearance, then shared photos he took of the piece with The Marilyn Collection. In an interview with USA Today, ChadMichael said he handled the dress when it was on the auction block at Julien’s in 2016, so the alleged damage was personal to him. (It was that auction where Ripley’s bought the dress for $4.8 million.)In the same interview, he cited other alleged damage, including stress on the straps, missing sequins and “frayed” material near the hooks. Due to the historic nature of the dress, Kim was not allowed to alter it. According to Vogue, even after losing 16 pounds to fit in it, Kim only spent a few minutes actually wearing the piece at the Met before changing into a replica. As of Wednesday, Kim had not commented on the damage allegations.

Matthew Perry shares update on forthcoming book about ‘Friends,’ addiction battle

On Tuesday, June 14, Matthew Perry announced he’s finished writing his upcoming book, “Friends, Lovers, and The Big Terrible Thing.” “My ego doesn’t like that I have to stop writing about myself,” the “Friends” alum joked on Instagram, sharing a photo of the title page of the manuscript. “But the book is now done. So that’s that.” Due out in November on Flatiron Books, Matthew’s memoir will detail both his behind-the-scenes experience on “Friends,” where he played Chandler Bing for a decade, and his long battle with addiction, according to the publisher’s initial announcement. Matthew, 52, shared a glimpse of what may have fueled some of his drug use during 2021’s “Friends” reunion, where Matthew admitted to his former co-stars he used to “go into convulsions” if he couldn’t get laughs out of the live studio audience. On the reunion, Lisa Kudrow looked stunned when he described his experience and pointed out Matthew never told his cast mates, who are reportedly still close. Jennifer Aniston apparently had no idea what Matthew’s internal struggles looked like at the time, either. “I didn’t understand the level of anxiety and self-torture [that] was put on Matthew …, if he didn’t get that laugh, and the devastation that he felt, which makes a lot of sense,” Jen said on “Today” in June 2021. When he announced the memoir, Matthew told Instagram followers: “So much has been written about me in the past. I thought it was time people heard from me. The highs were high, the lows were low. But I have lived to tell the tale, even though at times it looked like I wouldn’t. And it’s all in here. I apologize it’s not a pop up book.”

Hailey Bieber says she and Justin are closer after back-to-back health scares

Hailey Bieber stopped by “Good Morning America” on Wednesday, June 15, to talk about the launch of her first skincare line, Rhode. She also shared an update on her husband Justin Bieber’s Ramsay Hunt Syndrome diagnosis, which came just months after Hailey suffered a mini-stroke. Justin, who told fans last week he had to postpone multiple tour dates because the virus-induced neurological disorder was causing partial — and likely temporary — paralysis in half of his face. “[He’s] doing really well, and he’s getting better every single day,” Hailey told the “GMA” hosts. “He’s going to be totally OK, and I’m just grateful that he’s fine.” She also made a point of expressing how helpful the support from fans has been. “Every single person has sent well wishes, advice, recommendations, and its actually been really amazing,” she said. As for her own health, the model said she’s also feeling “a lot better.” Hailey’s stroke turned out to be related to a heart issue. “I had procedure done to close this hole in my heart, and I’m just giving my body the time to heal and recover,” she said. Despite their recent health setbacks, Hailey said she and Justin have been able to stay positive. “Going through it very publicly in front of a lot of people, it kind of almost forces you to be upfront about what’s going on so people understand what you’re going through. I actually think it opened up a lot of important and amazing conversations,” she explained. “You’re being there for each other and supporting each other and there’s just something that really bonds you through these times.”

Chris Evans weighs in on same-sex kiss in ‘Lightyear’ as U.A.E. bans new Pixar release

“Lightyear” star Chris Evans that while he’s “happy” Disney replaced a previously deleted kiss between same-sex characters in the new Pixar film, he’s also “frustrated” that one same-sex smooch is controversial enough to merit so much attention. In March, Variety reported Disney initially cut the scene where Alisha shares a kiss with her wife, then later put it back in the film amid backlash from Pixar employees and others over the company’s response to the so-called “Don’t Say Gay” legislation in Florida, one of Disney’s main hubs. Asked what he thought of the company’s decision to replace the kiss, Chris — whose casting in place of the original voice of Buzz Lightyear, Tim Allen, has also stirred controversy — explained why “it’s great,” if not ideal. “As great as it is … it’s nice, and it’s wonderful, it makes me happy,” he began. “It’s tough to not be a little frustrated that it even has to be a topic of discussion. That it is this kind of ‘news,'” he explained. “The goal is that we can get to a point where it is the norm, and that this doesn’t have to be some uncharted waters, that eventually this is just the way it is. That representation across the board is how we make films.” Chris added that while, “it’s an honor to be a part of something that is taking those steps, the goal is to look back on this time and just be shocked that it took us this long to get there.” Chris’ interview was published on Monday, June 13. On Wednesday, the New York Times reported The United Arab Emirates has banned “Lightyear” because of the kiss. Censors in Indonesia and Malaysia are currently mulling possible restrictions on the film for the same reason, according to the Times. “Lightyear” hits theaters in the U.S. this week.
