Camilla and Charles’ wedding took place in 2005, decades after the 1981 wedding of Diana and the Prince of Wales. Diana’s engagement ring, now worn by the Duchess of Cambridge, was an oval-shaped sapphire and one of the most famous rings in the world. Meanwhile, Camilla’s features a central diamond surrounded by other, smaller diamonds. How much is it worth and how else does it differ from Diana’s?
After announcing their engagement in February 2005, Camilla and Charles married a couple of months later in April that year.
Camilla wore a white midi dress created by London designers Antonia Robinson and Anna Valentine.
As for her engagement ring, Max Stone, creative director at Steven Stone, described the Duchess of Cornwall’s jewel as “a five-carat emerald-cut diamond, surrounded by three diamond baguettes”.
“I’d estimate its value to be around £212,000,” he added.
The diamond expert went on to tell Express.co.uk a little about the ring’s history.
“The ring also possesses a great amount of sentiment,” he said.
“Though it wasn’t her engagement ring, the Queen Mother was seen wearing it in the 1980s.
“It’s believed to have been gifted to her by King George VI.”

Diana’s engagement ring, on the other hand, had not been seen before.
Designed by Garrard, the Princess of Wales picked out the sapphire sparkler herself from Garrard’s catalogue.
It even broke royal protocol at the time as members of the Royal Family always have their engagement rings designed especially for them – they are not available for any member of the public to buy from a catalogue.
Sapphire and ruby engagement rings were also rare at the time, with more women choosing diamonds.
Max explained: “Camilla’s three-stone diamond ring is traditional, while Diana’s sapphire ring is bold, and broke royal tradition at the time.
“I’d estimate Camilla’s ring to be worth around £212,500 on today’s market, while Princess Diana’s is worth around £390,000 and is likely to increase further due to its history, beauty and priceless legacy.”
Although Diana’s ring is more valuable, the diamond expert added that the Duchess of Cornwall’s ring is still “one of the most extensive and expensive in the Royal Family”.
Now, Diana’s ring belongs to the Duchess of Cambridge.
Kate is often seen donning the jewel while out undertaking royal engagements.
The Duchess married Prince William in April 2011 in a lavish ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
She wore a beautiful lace dress, featuring long sleeves and designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen.
