Couple savaged for ‘impressively rude’ detail on their wedding invitation – but can you spot it? | The Sun

A COUPLE has been savagely roasted for the ‘rude’ detail on their wedding invite – but it may take you a moment to notice it.

Taking to Reddit, a guest of the couple shared a snap of what appeared to be a perfectly normal wedding invitation.

Printed on a traditional card with a lace print, it featured details of the date, time, location as well as the fact that the couple are registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

While it may seem perfectly harmless, the recipient revealed she was less than thrilled with the invitation.

In her post, she wrote: “On first impression, I was a little put off that not only was it- I'm not joking – handwritten on a thin piece of cardboard folded in half and jammed into an envelope, but it had the registry in big bold letters in permanent marker on the front of the invite.

“That's a bad enough first impression, but then I noticed something.”

The woman went on to explain that she realised they had only been invited to the ceremony section of the day.

She continued: “We messaged the groom and asked if there was a reception afterward because the invite only listed the ceremony location.

“He said yes, but we weren't invited because they couldn't afford a big to-do so only family and close friends were invited to the reception.

“So they tell us the registry information and they want us at the ceremony, but they don't like us enough to invite us to the reception? It's over an hour away and the ceremony only 30 minutes.”

She went on to ask whether she was being unreasonable to think the invitation was rude, and plenty of Redditors were in agreement.

Commenting on the post, one wrote: “I had this happen to me. I found it extremely tacky. You’re just wanting extra gifts and making it very obvious.”

Another agreed, adding: “That's impressively rude. You can invite people to the reception only but not just the ceremony.

“I would reconsider the friendship.”

“What a greedy gift grab! Totally not a thing, and definitely rude!” commented a third.
