A WOMAN has revealed that she moved into a messy council house after being homeless and it was in desperate need of some TLC.
Charlotte Deering, a 27-year-old mother from Cheshire, explained that not only was there dog poo on the carpet in her bedroom, but the built-in wardrobe was falling off, acting as a hazard.
As a result, the savvy stay-at-home mum, who is known online as ‘The Money Ferret’, got to work on giving her rundown home a mega makeover.
Charlotte often shares tips to help people save money and budget better online, and the bargain lover’s recent clip, showing off a before and after look at her council house, has left many open-mouthed.
The mother describes herself as a “fixer upper” and explained that she had to budget hard to transform her home, and was able to do stuff with reduced wallpaper and freebies.
Posting on social media, she said: “When we moved into our home after being homeless it was a mess and we didn’t have much money!”

The savvy shopper then explained that she budgeted hard to be able to transform her council house, as she revealed that she nabbed “lino flooring” for “free with Amazon vouchers.”
She then shared a picture of her finished living room, as she claimed: “Everything we already had apart from the curtains and blue ottoman and husband’s dad built us storage for next to nothing.”
The woman explained that her bedroom was in a bit of a state when she moved in, as she explained: “Dog faeces on the carpet was the worst in our bedroom.”
However, to give the room an upgrade, she nabbed wallpaper that was “reduced in clearance at Dunelm.”

Not only was there dog poo on the carpet, but she also explained that the “built in wardrobe was falling off a the top and was a hazard.”
However, the woman was able to give her space a new feel, thanks to a desk that she got for free, as well as a mirror that she got with Amazon vouchers.
When it came to her child’s bedroom, she used wallpaper which she found for just £3 a roll in a clearance sale.
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @themoneyferret, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 37,500 views.
Social media users were stunned at the home’s overhaul and many were eager to express this in the comments.
One person said: “Really lovely.”
Another added: “Amazing job, well done you, house to home.”
A third commented: “Your home is beautiful. Really made it your own. Should be so proud..”
