I paid £7k for an abandoned storage unit and it was a total scam – it was filled with gross items, I was in shock | The Sun

A WOMAN who spent £7,000 on an abandoned storage unit was left shocked by what she found inside.

Hope, from the US, bagged the unit hoping to find lots of luxury goodies inside but was devastated when she rummaged through the items.

Taking to her YouTube channel HopeScope, revealed she bought the $10,000 unit after she spotted designer bags in the listing.

Dedicated to the task, Hope flew all the way from Las Vegas to Baltimore to collect her winnings.

When she got home, the first thing she did was get the three Louis Vuitton bags she found authenticated.

But she was stunned to find that only one of the three bags was real.

Hope thought she lucked out when she saw a box for an Apple watch – but when she opened it up there was nothing inside.

Her cameraman said: "What a freaking scam."

Inside the storage unit were also lots of designer trainers, but Hope was again unimpressed as many had been worn and were too dirty to sell.

She said: "There's a whole rack of shoes that look to be Nike sneakers and there's also a rack of what looks to be brand new in the box brands."

But at closer inspection, most of the shoes were worn and not in a condition to sell.

Hope also managed to find a tonne of Barbies in the storage unit including a full Malibu Barbie playhouse and lots of vintage Barbie dolls with one worth £1,000.

The other dolls were worth around £10 – £30 each.

The most random section of the storage unit seemed to be stocked with police officer costumes and gun cases as well as a samurai sword.

She also found a lot of dresses although they weren't worth much.

Hope also found lots more Apple product boxes but of course, they were all empty.

She added: "The amount of empty boxes in here made me feel like it was a set up."

Hope also found lots of human hair extensions, but she wasn't sure how to sell them.

"Definitely not the treasure trove that I was expecting it to be," she said.

However, she still managed to keep around £1,000 worth of items for herself as well as donate lots of toys and clothes to charity.

The video was a hit with viewers who quickly took to the comments to share their thoughts.

One person wrote: "This is so good as a cautionary tale tho. For anyone who's trying to make some money and have watched shows where everything goes well."

Another commented: "You definitely got scammed, but I love how optimistic you are even if you don’t get your money back."

"I love when you do these videos. Even though it's not always a happy ending, still something to learn and be excited about haha," penned a third.
