I thought I'd found the perfect wedding guest dress but people say I'll get side eye all day, now I have my doubts | The Sun

A WEDDING guest has divided opinion after revealing the dress she's planning to wear to the big day.

Fashion fan Kayleigh fell in love with the £35 cream floral Boohoo frock.

But after showing it to people she admits she now "has her doubts".

Looking for a second opinion, Kayleigh asked on social media: "Would you wear this to a wedding?

"I asked the bride and she said it was fine.

"I’ve saw people wearing similar to weddings, like floral with cream/nude backgrounds.

"I love the dress but I’ve had doubts because it is cream and then some people have said I shouldn’t wear that to a wedding."

Despite the dress getting the bride's approval, tonnes of people in the comments section insisted that the dress was too white for her to wear to a wedding.

One said: "I wouldn’t [wear this] personally, even if the bride has approved it I think you’ll be getting side eye from other guests.

"It’s the one day I think you should choose literally any other colour and avoid white completely.

"Plenty other occasions you could wear this dress to, it’s lovely."

A second agreed: "Honestly, I wouldn't [wear it].

"There's every other colour to pick from but people are always tempted by white/off white/cream. It's a beautiful dress but I'd pick another less bridal looking dress."

Meanwhile, a third wrote: "Sorry I wouldn’t, there’s so many other colours to choose from.

"Let the bride have her moment wearing white."

Others, however, have jumped to Kayleigh's defence and told her to wear the frock with pride to the big day.

One fumed: "Anyone feeling irked about this dress needs to get out more. Nothing bridal about it. A lovely guest dress."

Another pointed out: "Doesn't matter what [anyone] thinks, you've asked the bride who has given her nod of approval."

And a third insisted: "I hate rules that say you can’t wear a certain colour. This dress is very neutral. Get it and look amazing."

According to experts at wedding bible The Knot: “Wearing white to a wedding should be avoided at all costs.”

Wedding dress designer Madeline Gardner added: "When you're a guest at a wedding, the most important thing to keep in mind is not to upstage or upset the bride.

"It's safe to stay away from any outfits that are predominantly white, cream or ivory."
