I thought it would be a good idea to get a henna tattoo on holiday – it was a nightmare, 2 years later I'm still scarred | The Sun

A WOMAN has revealed that she thought it would be a good idea to get a henna tattoo whilst on holiday, but it turned out to be a total nightmare.

Laura Aura, 25, explained that she had a horrific allergic reaction to her hand henna tattoo.

Not only could she not move her hand and was quickly covered in nasty blisters, but she was also left with scars that didn’t fade for two years.

Sharing her beauty fail on social media, Laura warned others about getting cheap henna without having a patch test first, as she advised: “If you love going on holiday watch this!”

At the start of the clip, Laura shared a picture of her beautiful hand henna inking, as she wrote: “How did this beautiful henna design turn into the worst disaster of my life?”

Laura then confirmed that she got the henna tattoo on a ‘street stand’ whilst on holiday, and wasn’t given a patch test prior to the beauty treatment, as she explained: “After 24 hours my finger became very itchy.

“I went to the walk-in centre and A&E and was told both times to let it pass on its own.

“The walk-in centre told me to keep ice on it and it will get better.”

Laura’s fingers soon began to swell and blister, as she added: “After nearly 12 days I started to struggle using my hand completely. Back to A&E.

“The doctor in A&E said ‘I’ve never seen anything like this in my 30 years of being a doctor.’”

Laura then posted a picture of her with her fingers in bandages, as she continued: “Got sent home like this, to be told the burns unit will be in touch.

“The burns clinic said they will have to burst all of the blisters. So they did…”

Laura also shared a picture of the burst blisters covering her fingers, as she continued: “I was seeing a nurse every three days to check the dressing.

“But it finally, slowly, started to heal.

“However, the process took a very long time.

“Finally only had one dressing left until it all came off.”

Laura then posted an image of her hand two years later, with the scars finally starting to fade, as she confirmed: “My fingers were then scarred for almost two years.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @lauraa_aura, has clearly left many stunned, as it has quickly gone viral and since amassed a staggering 1.3 million views in just three days.

Social media users were open-mouthed at Laura’s allergic reaction and many took to the comments to share their thoughts.

One person said: “I cannot believe the hospital told you to go home. I’m shocked.”

To this, Laura responded: “Not just once but twice.”

Another added: “This happened [to] me. I’m allergic to henna and hair dye.”

To this, Laura simply replied: “Same.”

A third commented: “I’m also allergic to henna, I feel you.”

At the same time, someone else wrote: “Natural henna is the best! These other fake cones contain PPD, a chemical used in hair dye which a lot of people are allergic to.”
