I used to work at McDonald’s – here’s my secret hack to getting a fresh burger that won’t be soggy once you open the box | The Sun

A FORMER McDonald's employee has revealed how to ensure you can enjoy a burger that hasn't been sitting on the belt for ages.

Dessy Joseph, who used to work at the popular fast food chain, took to TikTok to spill the beans and share her top tips when it comes to ordering food.

According to the ex-staff member, McDonald's workers would whip up piles of grub during the peak time – and this, in turn, means that your burger may not be the most fresh of the bunch.

''During lunch rush, we would make a certain amount of food that were popular items and leave them on the belt.''

She went on in the clip: ''The belt was heated, so you couldn't really tell if your food had been left on the belt.''

Whether that was a burger of nuggets, Dessy claimed that the junk food would sit on the belt until someone ordered it.

However, to ensure you don't end up eating a ''belt sandwich'', the former employee said there's an easy trick – and it's all about customisation.

Adding cheese, as she noted, is not a safe option, as the staff would still take the belt burger and add a slice of cheese.

Instead, ask to have either mayonnaise or ketchup removed – because such condiments cannot be scrapped off.

This simple step will make sure the employee would assemble a fresh burger just for you, Dessy told her 618k followers.
