I wanted a cute relationship tattoo – but only realized my awkward mistake when a stranger pointed it out 3 YEARS later | The Sun

THIS TikToker wanted a cute relationship tattoo and got it done, only to realize his and the artist's awkward mistake when a stranger pointed it out three years after.

According to Keaton Jesse, who goes by the username @keatonjesse on TikTok, a tattoo that they wanted to get after coming out at 15 years old didn't go quite as planned.

In the video, Jesse includes a clip from another TikToker who asks for people to reveal their embarrassing tattoo stories.

Jesse then reveals a tattoo on the inside of their left wrist that seemingly reveals the female gender symbol interlocked and paired together like a set of keys.

This is the universal LGBT symbol for the lesbian community, something unbeknownst to Jesse at the time.

"When I was about 15, I thought that I was great you know, newly out as gay," Jesse said.

"I went to the tattooist and said 'I want the gay pride symbol on my arm…'"

Jesse then said that the tattooist quickly searched for the symbol on Google and did it on their arm, neither of them knowing anything about it.

However, Jesse explains that they only made the awkward discovery of what the symbol really was from a fellow member of the gay community at a bar about 3 years later.

"Three years later, I'm out in a gay bar and this lesbian girl goes 'oh my god I love your tattoo,'" Jesse recalls.

The girl then asked what the meaning was for Jesse to have the lesbian community symbol on his arm, to which they immediately realized what had happened years ago.

"And it was at that point I realized I had the lesbian symbol on my arm, so this is actually to women, and it's actually been there for about 8 years," Jesse said.

They explained that they don't know why they never covered it up, but at this point, it's likely been so long it must feel like part of them.

For Jesse, it's a relatively innocent mistake for what they originally wanted in comparison to some bad tattoos that others have regretted and even had skin reactions to.

Not to mention, from the video it seems that Jesse has a positive attitude it about it now as a representation of gay women.

Either way, there's certainly humor in discovering the tattoo you received to be completely wrong years later.
