I was quoted nearly £400 to wallpaper my cloakroom but did it myself using clever hacks – the results left me drooling | The Sun

A WOMAN who was quoted £380 to wallpaper her cloakroom managed to do it herself for a fraction of the price.

Rose explained that she'd been told it would cost nearly £400 to wallpaper the teeny room, so she started to look into alternatives.

She eventually decided to try out wall stencils and, with her choice of pink paints, the results left her "drooling", she said in a video on TikTok.

Rose and her friend first taped off the bottom half of the wall, and painted that a magenta colour.

They then painted the top half a paler pink, and used a swirl stencil design to merge the two.

They sprayed self adhesive on the back of the stencil to attach it temporarily to the wall, and made sure not to load up the foam roller too much with the paint – "otherwise it will bleed".

Rose and her pal then used the dark pink paint on the stencil section that was on the light pink part of the wall, and vice versa.

And it ended up looking incredible – and much more expensive than it was to create.

"This is your sign to use wall stencils as a cheaper alternative to wallpaper," Rose wrote over the top of her video.

"Currently drooling at the results."
