“Next I’m looking for patterns. Bold patterns that stand out.
“This was a gorgeous plisse shirt. Beautiful, really unique design and it was vintage as well.
“Then I’m going for textures.
“So I love a satin shirt. I love it even more when it’s a bright colour.
“I wasn’t quite convinced with the neckline but I played around with it and it definitely can be styled in a way that I would wear it more.”
Ellie’s fourth tip was to keep your eyes peeled for unique design features, such as patterned collars and unique buttons.
She added: “Look out for special design features. I saw this pop of leopard print and instantly it drew me over.
“I thought this coat was so cute. It reminded me of that scene from the Devil Wears Prada.
“I just wasn’t mad keen on the length, but I still think on the right person this is just stunning.
“I spied another vintage-looking pattern, this time it was a brand new dress from H&M.
“And I always ask myself, how can I elevate this to make it more fitting with my style?
“So I’d probably sew some feather trim on the cuffs, pair it with some knee high boots, really buy into the 70s aesthetic.
“Keep an open mind, that’s really important.”
The keen shopper also revealed the section she always checks out first, adding: “Also never sleep on the window displays. It’s where they’re putting all of their best stock so make sure you’re checking that before you walk inside.
“There are so many brand new and pre-loved gifts to be found secondhand. If it’s not for you, then who can you gift it to?”
