I’m a cleaning professional – a simple hack will save you so much time and energy while tidying | The Sun

IT OFTEN feels as though the house can never get clean enough.

TikTok user @cleanthatup, a cleaning expert and third-generation janitor, posts tips and tricks almost daily.

In one of his most popular videos with 152,000 likes, the self-proclaimed clean freak, whose real name is Brandon Pleshek, teaches his followers how to properly clean their fans – using pillow cases.

The first step is to place the case on the fan blades, he says.

Make sure it is tight.

Then, slowly pull off the case, as the dust falls inside.

“I’ll be doing this from now on!”

“Your a genius!” another said.

“I keep looking at my bedroom ceiling fan asking myself why I dusted and vacuumed it without doing the fan 1st!”

“After that.. Wash the pillow cover for 3hrs,” a third person joked.

Taste of Home compiled a variety of the TikToker's popular hacks.

One was to take equal parts baking soda and hydrogen peroxide for a DIY grout cleaner.

Another was to use a damp towel to get rid of furniture indentations in the carpet.

Placing the towel over the indent, steam it with an iron for 10 to 15 seconds.

Then remove the cloth and groom the spot with a fork, he said.

He recommended checking your couch’s tag for its clean code.

There should be an “S,” a “W,” or an “SW”.  The “S” means that the furniture is dry-clean only.

The “W” means you can wash it. The “SW” means you can do either.

Finally, a Pumice stone, a porous gray material, can be especially great at getting water stains out of toilets.

All you have to do is get them wet, scrub the stain, and rinse the toilet.
