I’m a dermatologist & you’ve been putting your deodorant on all wrong – forget about applying it in the morning to start | The Sun

A BEAUTY expert has shared the correct way of applying deodorant after revealing we’ve all been doing it wrong our entire lives.

Dr. Lindsey, who is a dermatologist, explained that there’s a specific time of day to put deodorant on – and it’s not in the morning.

Demonstrating putting Dove roll-on deodorant on her armpits, she lifted one fully-clothed arm up as she said you should be putting it on in the evening.

“Skin hacks from a dermatologist… that might just change your life,” she wrote.

“Deodorant at night to stop sweating,” @dermguru added in the TikTok video.

During the night, the body temperature drops, which means you sweat less.

When your sweat glands are less active, the sweat ducts may be able to absorb the deodorant better, according to Byrdie.

This isn’t the only skin hack by the expert, however, as she also shared that mixing Afrin nasal spray with moisturiser is good for rosacea.

According to the NHS, rosacea is a long-term skin condition that is more common in women than men.

Symptoms include redness across the nose, cheeks, forehead, chin, neck and chest that comes and goes. You may also experience a burning or stinging feeling when using water or skincare products.

“Treatment can help with symptoms,” the NHS states.

Dr. Lindsey’s final tip is to leave dandruff shampoo, such as Head & Shoulders, to sit for five minutes before rinsing it out.

Some viewers were left in shock over the deodorant hack while others said it was a total “game changer” for them.

“WHAT?!?!?! This is amazing, I’m trying it today,” one person wrote with a red heart emoji.

While another shared: “Yes deodorant at night is a game changer,” to which she replied: “It really is!!”

Others were left unsure about her advice about leaving Head & Shoulders sit for five minutes.

“OMG. Dandruff shampoo is so so harsh,” [sic] one person wrote, to which she replied: “I only recommend it for scalp treatment NOT for hair strands!”

Another said: “From a hairdresser point of view head and shoulders it’s crazy bad for you hair and scalp should never be used”. [sic]

Again, Dr. Lindsey hit back: “I don’t recommend using it as a shampoo per se but a scalp treatment to get rid of fungus”.
