HAVE you made the big decision to welcome a dog into your home but not sure what breed to go for?
Well, you may just want to listen up – because one dog trainer, known as americanstandardk9 on TikTok, has revealed the breed he'd never recommend for families.
And it's not good news if you're a fan of the Doberman Pinscher.
In the clip, he begins: "The top reason I'd never advise the Doberman Pinscher for most families is because of what they're originally bred for – to be amazing personal bodyguards – they always see to be on.
"They're almost a little squirrely or a little bit space-cadet like."
He goes on to say how it's also "very hard to maintain their attention."

Demonstrating what he means with the Doberman Pinscher he's walking, he continues: "She's heeling with me but she's also trying to take in as much information as possible from the left, ahead, to the right, behind us.
"She's watching, smelling and seeing everything just in case there's a bogeyman hiding behind the tree over there.
"She wants to be ready to protect me and that's kind if the issue with Doberman's – they're just super squirrely, always scanning their environment and very hard to maintain their focus a little longer than for a few seconds."

The dog professional concludes by adding that he's not saying they don't make great dogs, just that they're a little more "dog to handle" in most circumstances.

The video has since gone viral, garnering a whopping 1.1 million views and hundreds of comments, with many pet owners quick to offer their opinions.
"I disagree. I’ve had them all my life. Very alert but can be chill," noted one.
A second penned: "Well said. Completely agree with this assessment of the Doberman. They’re typically not ‘balanced’ like other dog breeds."
A third commented: "Best dogs ever. Speaking from experience."
Meanwhile, a fourth noted: "Best dogs ever! I'll never own another breed. Deff not for beginners, or people who don't have a lot of time to train. Overall athletes!"
