WE’VE all been guilty of not dressing the best way for our body types, and now SuppleChicTV is here to tell us the best ways to actually do so.
No matter your size or weight there'll always be some styles that work for you and flatter your body, while there will be others that can instead make you look tacky or washed out – and this can all depend on your body type.
Chichi from SuppleChicTV on Youtube has highlighted the mistakes that many plus-size women make and given some tips on how to remedy these fashion faux pas.
Wearing the wrong fit or style of undergarments
The fashion mistake first explained by Chichi is wearing the wrong type, or size, of undergarments for your outfit and/or size.
“I think you could have the cutest outfit,” says the fashionista, “you can kitted out from head to toe but if you have the wrong undergarments on it ruins everything.”

While if you’re just popping out to the supermarket of having a lazy day this isn’t a huge concern, if you want to look good for an event or make a statement there are a few items Chichi says you must have:
- Seamless underwear.
- Shapewear, in the right size.
- A bra that you have been fitted for.
Wearing the wrong clothes for your body type
The second mistake is wearing clothes that are not quite right for your body type – although Chichi does add that ultimately you can wear whatever you want, there’s still nothing wrong with wanting to know what will be flattering for your figure.
“You need to know your body type,” says Chici, “because when you know your body type you know what clothes can fit and flatter you.”
She adds that knowing her own body type has really helped when it comes to shopping and deciding what to wear, stating that clothes with a rectangular shape don’t usually work for her body type so she tends to avoid these items.

Running away from trends
Chichi argues that instead of looking at fashion trends you like and thinking ‘oh I don’t think that will look good on me’ you should at least try the style and see if it works for you.
The worst thing that can happen is that it doesn’t but at least now you know, and can find something else that does.
“I think there’s nothing wrong with seasonally buying a couple of magazines, seeing what’s ‘on trend’ and picking the ones that are closest to your style,” says Chichi.
Wearing baggy clothes
“We all need to stop wearing baggy clothes,” argues Chichi, who says that rather than hiding your body and making you look slimmer this can actually make you look bigger than you are.
Instead you should be wearing outfits that accentuate any assets you want accentuated and conceals the assets you don’t want accentuated.
“Now unless you want to wear a baggy sack and if you do then more power to you,” says the fashion expert, “but if your idea is to hide your body in baggy clothes you’re really doing yourself a disservice.”

Wearing clothes that are too tight
On the other side of things, you also don’t want to be wearing clothes that are too tight.
Chichi says that everyone needs to get a better understanding of something that fits and something that is tight.
She adds that like with wearing baggy clothes, clothes that are too tight can also make you look bigger.
Waiting until you lose weight
Chichi’s final tip is that you stop waiting until you lose weight to start wearing the clothes and styles that you want to wear.
