I’m a fashion pro & skinny jeans are out – here's the exact type of jeans you should wear depending on your body shape | The Sun

A FASHION pro has revealed the jeans you absolutely have to buy depending on your body shape – and why skinny jeans are out for everyone this summer.

Basicela took to TikTok to advise shoppers on what jeans to pick up to best suit their body shape.

In the short clip posted to her account @basicela, she said: "Which jeans are the right ones for you? Skinny jeans are out of fashion."

If you are a die-hard fan of skinny jeans, then the next best option is skinny straight says the fashion pro.

These jeans are tight around the thigh but fall to a straight cut under the knee.

She added: "This is flattering to almost everyone, but what matters here is the waist."

If you have a longer torso, it's best to go for a higher waist, if you have a short torso, middle-waist jeans are the better option as Basicela explains it creates an illusion of a smaller waist.

For those who have larger carves, the styling whizz recommended sticking with mom jeans.

She explained: "These are the mom jeans, they're looser on the knee and they are not straight down, but they get a bit tighter on the bottom highways.

"Mom jeans are amazing for long torsos, and also if you want to hide your thicker calves if they bother you."

Bootcut jeans are a great option for those with short legs who want to make them look longer.

The fashion pro added: "I believe you have to wear them with high heels in order to get the full effect.

"But it just looks like my legs are 1km long and I can tell you why."

Because the top half is tight around your thigh, she explains it creates the illusion of a long upper leg, while the heel of the shoe creates the look of a longer bottom half of the leg.

She added that the same rules apply for long and short torsos, high-waist for long torsos, and middle-waist for short ones.

Finally, she recommended wide-leg jeans for those who want to appear slimmer and are great for hiding your legs.

One key point with wide-leg jeans is to make sure the crotch area doesn't go too far down if you have a long torso.

Basicela added: "So technically you can wear any jeans if you master the waist length of your pants."

The video has since gone viral with over 120k views and over 5,000 likes.

People were quick to share their thoughts in the comments section of the video.

One person wrote: "I love your explanation!"

Another commented: "Thank you! I finally got it."

"Medium waist doesn’t work if you have a short torso and have a belly, then it bulges," penned a third.
