I’m a foodie and made a ‘Big Mac’ salad that tastes just as good as the McDonald’s burger but it’s WAY healthier | The Sun

WE may all love a good McDonald’s sometimes but it’s not exactly the healthiest food to be eating regularly.

Well now foodie TikToker Amélie Chapdelaine has shared her recipe for a homemade ‘Big Mac’ salad that tastes just as good as the burger itself but is way healthier.


Her first video shows the process of making the salad, and she’s since posted a couple of other videos, one giving the step-by-step instructions to building the salad, and another explaining how to make the dressing.

The first component of the salad is lettuce, Amélie says she prefers to use iceberg lettuce as it’s very crunchy, but you can easily use a different type if you’d prefer.

Once you have a bed of lettuce you can add the other ingredients, which are pretty similar to those found in a Big Mac – pickles, onions, ground beef, cheese.

Amélie says she puts tomatoes in hers but these can be left out if you wish, as can any of the other ingredients if you’re not the biggest fan of them.

She adds that while tomatoes aren’t usually found in a Big Mac, she adds them to the salad as they are quite refreshing.

When making this salad you can easily add any other veggies you like, although some would argue that it would perhaps no longer be a Big Mac inspired salad, if you add too  many other ingredients.

Amélie has also shared a recipe for a Big Mac sauce inspired dressing, so you can make this salad even more delicious.

The first ingredients in Amélie’s take on Big Mac sauce are onions and pickles, which you should chop into very small pieces.

Then you just need to mix some mayonnaise, mustard, paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and a little bit of pickle juice.

If you’d rather it be more saucey then creamy, she recommends adding a little bit of milk.

Amélie says that the quantities of each ingredient tend to depend on how she’s feeling, who she’s cooking for, and what meal she’s making the salad for, so she doesn’t have any set measurements.

If you want this recipe with measurements she says that there are alot of Big Mac sauce recipes out there, which you can check to make sure you’ve got the quantities you’ll want.

Once you’ve made the sauce, just add it to the other ingredients and mix it up, and you’ll be eating a healthy alternative to McDonald’s in no time.
