I'm a foot doctor – three shoes I'd never wear, and why the comfiness of Skechers is actually a bad thing | The Sun

A FOOT doctor has revealed the three shoes he'd never wear – with Skechers high on the list.

Paul the podiatrist regularly shares his tips and tricks on social media.

And in a recent video on TikTok, he explained why he won't be buying a pair of the much-loved shoes anytime soon.

"These slip on ones, they're made tighter to hold onto your feet," he said, showing a pair of the slip-on Skechers.

"So they can squeeze your toes and cause problems like neuromas (a type of tumour you can get in the foot)."

Another reason Paul is anti-Skechers is because they're too soft.

"Your foot has to do more work," he explained.

"So they may feel good but then later on during the day, actually your foot's more tired."

And the third thing putting Paul off Skechers is how long it takes for them to fall about.

"The final thing is the shoes just don't last long," he continued.

"They wear out so quickly and even though they seem like they're a great deal, you're just replacing your shoes every one to two months

"And I just don't think that's very good."

Paul also warned against wearing flip flops – because you have to grip the shoe and it can cause claw-toeing – and stilettos.

"I don't want to hate on all heels because a one-and-a-half inch heel is ok for most people," he said.

"But stilettos have such a thin base.

"My colleague's fallen recently and broken her foot, so it's such a high risk of injury.

"Is it worth it? Even to look nice?"

Despite Paul's comments, the majority of people in the video disagreed with his assessment of Skechers.

"Absolutely disagree with you on Skechers," one wrote.

"My rheumatology consultant recommended skechers," another added.

"They've changed my life!"

As a third wondered: "What the hell are you doing if Sketchers are only lasting 1-2 months?!"
