IF you’re one of the people who always takes your hair down just before your head hits the pillow each night to avoid it from kinking, it could be time for a big change.
That’s because a hair expert has revealed that you should never wear your hair down to bed as it can cause major damage to your locks.
TikTok advice account Your Best Hair, aka @yourbesthair, was recently asked: “Why should you put your hair up for sleeping?”
She swiftly answered: “When sleeping with your hair down, while you are tossing and turning, friction of your pillow will cause frizz and breakage.”
Instead, she encouraged her 123,800 social media followers to try the complete opposite – and reap the rewards.
She went on to explain: “Wearing your hair up loosely will protect your hair from frizz and damage.”

As her followers asked for more reasons as to why it was important to wear your hair up, Your Best Hair reiterated it was important to keep the pony tail very loose.
She continued: “It will only cause breakage if you wear your hair up very tightly for a long period of time.
“Short hair around a hairline is normal and not breakage.”
She added that her preference would be an extremely loose bun on the top of her head, aka a “pineapple.”

The hair expert also said she was a fan of sleeping with silk pillows as a secondary way to ensure you don’t wake up with frizzy locks.
