I'm a money-saving mum and headed to Tesco & Tesco Express to see the price difference – I was stunned by what I found | The Sun

WE'RE all trying to keep the food shop cost down as much as possible.

But sometimes you can't help but fall off budget, especially when you unexpectedly run out of something.

Money-saving mum, Beth Turbutt-Rogers 27 from the Midlands, UK, decided to compare the prices of going to a convenient Tesco Express store compared to a large one.

And the budgeting mum told Fabulous what you can do to not get caught by the price hike of convenience.

She said: "With the cost of just about everything going up at the minute, especially food, now is really the time to question where we shop, more than ever before.

"If Tesco is your preferred supermarket just make sure you’re shopping at a big store rather than a local convenience shop."

The money-saving mum added: "I was really shocked at the difference between the big Tesco and the Tesco Express. These shops are literally 5 minutes apart, but the price difference is a lot."

The first item Beth picked up was some Bold laundry detergent pods – which included 33 pods.

At the Express store the same box cost £9.20 compared to the larger store where they retailed for £8 – an increase of 8.9%.

Next was another essential, many of us forget to buy while doing the big shop – dishwasher tablets.

"If you were to take out their delivery plan, which is £6.99 a month; you could do two deliveries a week, meaning that you wouldn’t ever need to pop to the shop for bread and milk and risk over spending.

"If you had two deliveries a week, this would equate to just 87p for every delivery."
