I’m a mum and I clear the supermarket shelves when I see a yellow sticker deal – people call me selfish but I don’t care | The Sun

A MUM-OF-FOUR hit back at critics who suggested she was selfish for clearing the shelf in Sainsbury's when she found a great deal on squash.

Nicki Mcfarlane nabbed a great deal in the supermarket when she found big bags of crisps for 20p and bottles of squash for just 29p each.

She took to Facebook Group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK to share news of the deal.

Nicki said: "Always keep an eye out in Sainsbury's. Juice 29p, crisps 20p."

The savvy shopper was faced with a flurry of – now deleted – comments suggesting she shouldn't have taken so much off the shelf and should have left more for others.

In response to this, Nicki edited her original post to add: "Just for the record, I've got four kids. This will last a while.

"Good on you grabbing what you can to save money.. no one else thinks about you while they’re saving money."

"I know me personally I’d have bought as much as I could have afforded and if that meant clearing the shelves then so be it."

But not everyone agreed that she had done the right thing.

One person said: "Of course it’s up to people to decide whether or not to grab the whole lot for themselves. Personally, I have had good bargains but also left some for others who may also be in need.

"Alternatively, I would take some to a food bank. I am not a hater but like to share with others in need. Each to their own of course."

Another said: "Shops should definitely put a limit on reduced items so that it reaches the people most in need. Not those that can afford to buy loads."
