I'm a professional cleaner and there are five things I'd NEVER have in my kitchen – you'll regret a tiled splashback | The Sun

A PROFESSIONAL housekeeper has revealed the five things she'd never have in her own kitchen because they're such a hassle to keep clean.

Alyssa Armstrong, from Michigan, explained exactly why you'll end up regretting the kitchen features on her TikTok account @alyssascleaningcompany.

According to the pro, as nice as you might think the home trends look they're not worth it.

Alyssa began: "Five things I would never, and I don’t think you should ever, put in your kitchen as a professional house cleaner knowing how hard they are to clean."

First up, the cleaning whizz swore against copper sinks because of what a hassle they are to keep looking new.

"They look beautiful when they’re first installed, and if you want to clean it every day then that is great, but I am going to show you what it looks like over time," she said before showing a snap of a rusty looking sink.

"It’s so hard to maintain, it’s literally just not worth it," she added.

When it comes to cabinets, keeping things simple is a must for Alyssa, who said she'd never have any kind of engraving or carved details on them.

The extra "nooks and crannies" are the perfect place for grim dust and grease to hide, which is just more time you'll have to spend cleaning.

When it comes to cabinets, the cleaningpro advised against designs where they don't go all the way up to the ceiling because of how tricky the space at the top can be to keep dust-free.

She said: "Look at this, nobody wants to clean this. Just have them go to the top. Easy peasy."

The fourth thing Alyssa said she'd never have in her own kitchen is small times – they might look trendy to begin with, but all that grout will be an absolute nightmare to clean.

"Grout is annoying, it requires maintenance. If it’s in your kitchen you are going to get a lot of build-up and grease," she explained.

Larger "slab" tiles might cost a bit more, but they're worth it in the long run, Alyssa said.

Finally, complicated lighting is a big no-no because of what a pain it can be to dust.

Showing a snap of a intricate lamp shade, Alyssa said: "This looks beautiful, but do you want to clean that? All those nooks and crannies? No."

Fellow cleaning fans agreed with her picks, one commented: "I'm a housekeeper too and those copper sinks take me OUT!

"They're so much work and wreck my hands cleaning them."
