I'm a skincare whizz – the 7 products I would never waste my money on & why eye creams should be the first to go | The Sun

A BEAUTY expert has listed which popular skincare products to not fork out for – and why you shouldn't bother with pricey eye creams.

It's tempting to buy just about anything to maintain a radiant and healthy complexion – but according to one aesthetics pro, Doctor Jonny, you don't need every product available in the market.

Offering a helping hand to cash-strapped Brits, the expert shared a list of popular skincare that's a waste of money in his eyes.

One of them, the beauty whizz said in his video, was forking out for a specific hyaluronic acid serum – this is because most moisturisers already contain a dose of the hydrating ingredient.

Sharing his opinion, Doctor Jonny also advised against eye creams – something many religiously believe is a must-have staple in their skincare routine.

''Eye creams are such a marketing ploy – look at this one here, £180 that La Mer is selling.

''Using an eye cream has no extra benefit that your moisturiser cannot cover itself,'' he explained.

When shopping for new products, the pro recommended sticking to the less is better approach and not pick up everything in your sight.

The pro insisted: ''You don't need ten skincare products – trust me on this one.''

The same, he went on, applies for liquid collagen – a supplement believed to improve the health of your bones, skin, joints, muscles and heart.

It appears that the pro would also not be particularly too excited to learn that you've invested in a gua sha face massage tool – which some even use to help with their migrated lip filler.

''By all means use gua sha to massage your face if you enjoy doing that – but the actual benefits of skin tightening are minimal.

''Same goes for facial massaging devices – in my opinion, a waste of money.''

For those who want to treat themselves to the on-trend micro-needling treatment, Dr Jonny advised against any DIY procedures at home.

''Please don't penetrate your skin at home with needles.

''If you want to do micro-needling, please seek a professional to do this for you.''
