I’m a teacher – the 10 things we actually want for Christmas and what we hate being given | The Sun

A TEACHER has revealed the 10 things they actually want for Christmas.

So if you aren’t sure what to buy your little one’s teacher, you’ll need to listen up.

Not only did the teacher advise parents to buy candles, slippers and pens, but she also revealed the one thing you should never gift a teacher – mugs.

Sharing her advice on social media, the brunette beauty explained: “The holidays are around the corner. If you need help showing your son, daughter or child's teacher your appreciation and you're stuck on what to get them – please don't get us mugs.

“I have some ideas for you.”

Showing off items that are available to buy on Amazon, the teacher said: “Starting at number 10 on our list – if you are a more practical gift giver, this [pack of coloured paper clips] is very very helpful.

“These are some of my favourite pens to grade with.”

Not only are pens and stationary handy for teachers, but she also stressed that self-care items are great too, as she added: “Coming in at number seven – I don't know if this is a personal preference or not, I'm sure other people love these [ice roller], but I am an anxious person, so whenever I'm having those high anxiety days, I just roll it on my face.

“I would appreciate this gift and I'm sure other teachers would too.

“Coming in at number six –  I posted a very, very viral video, and everybody asked me about this [Hello Kitty] calculator. Anybody who comes into my classroom and sees this calculator – student, teacher, walk through, anything, they always stop and say, ‘where did you get your calculator?’.

“It's from Amazon. And it's cheap. And it makes grading a little more fun.

“Coming in at number five – we have the desk fan.

“I have a pink one and I love it so, so much.”

Not only this, but according to this teacher, candles and slippers are great too, as she continued: “Coming in at number four – some of the best house shoes I have ever worn in my life [Jessica Simpson Ugg style slippers].

“I've purchased these probably about five times. I'm even wearing them right now.

“They're soft and fluffy.

“Number three needs no explanation [candle].”

If you’re struggling to think of anything else, the teacher claimed that dry board marker pens and gift cards will also be appreciated, as she concluded: “Number two – if your teacher is a dry erase board user, they will love these [dry board marker pens].

“And coming in at number one, when all else fails, just get them a gift card.

“I hope this helps.”

The teacher later wrote: “Let me know if you want more suggestions.

“Buying gifts for teachers is not a requirement, even a handwritten note or card is perfect.”

Social media users were impressed with the TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @teachwithmx.ram, and many took to the comments to share their thoughts.

One person said: “My mother is a teacher, who absolutely loves stationary. Talking notes…”

Another added: “Gooooood suggestions!!”

A third commented: “Uh so I just bought my teachers Christmas mugs with no return oops.”
