One experienced interior designer said her five tips save you money while making your space look like you splurged.


A fresh perspective may be all you need to break free from the design rut you feel like you're in.

Decorating your home to look more luxe doesn't have to cost as much as you think.

Interior designer and DIYer Bri posted a video sharing five suggestions for how you can make your space look expensive on a budget.

"After spending five years in the interior design industry, here are five tips to help you elevate your space without breaking the bank," she says.

Whether you're a couch potato or regularly eat at your dining room table, the furniture you use more than others should be neutral colored.

According to Bri, wall cabinets are practical and look lush.

A large white piece will add to an expensive aesthetic, help declutter a room, and keep miscellaneous items organized.

Bri's third tip isn't specific to any color but a reminder that painting will improve your space.

Opt for a calming color rather than an extravagant wallpaper or bright accent wall.

For your bathroom, it's good to have some tile work in there.

"You don't have to buy a ton of expensive tile. I only buy a little, and it makes a big impact," Bri admits.



However, one piece you should invest in is a mirror.

Bri says mirrors can make any small space feel bigger and brighter.

One curious viewer asked Bri: "What if I really like a green velvet couch from Albany Park?"
