IT CAN be tricky to know what to do with small rooms.

They might not be big enough for what you had in mind but you still want to make use of them.

But according to interior designer Phoenix Grey there are a few simple ways to to make even the tiniest room in your home look loads bigger.

Sharing the tips on TikTok, the pro explained: "Optically you want to distract the eye so any attention you can draw away from a smaller area and define it will instantly make it look bigger."

You can do this with splashes of colour and interesting wallpaper designs to pull attention, Phoenix revealed.

If you're working with a small space, making the most of storage is key.

But there are some more creative ways of doing this than you might think.

Phoenix said: "Be smart with your storage and find creative ways to hide everyday items away."

Pull-out storage is a great way to do this and "can really help declutter those counters in your kitchen."

In your living room faux boxes can be a life saver and keep your home looking chic.

The pro suggested using faux boxes that look like books to hide everyday clutter like remote controls.

Finding a good balance of lighting in small spaces is a must, "don't pass up those opportunities to light up those corners because that's going to really expand the space to hide shadows," the pro said.

Finally picking the perfect home accessories can help expand small spaces, Phoenix recommended adding mirrors opposite windows to open the room up.
