AN INTERIOR designer has shared how she turned three basic IKEA shelves into a trendy console table.
Pauline Lelong described the project as “simple and quick” in a tutorial that even the most novice DIY fans could follow.
That being said, you’ll need a measuring tape, some heavy-duty glue and a handheld chainsaw to get it done.
Pauline, who is from Bordeaux in France, used the IKEA Lack Wall Shelves in oak effect, which costs £15 a pop.
If you have a colour scheme in your home that you're keen to match, the shelves are also available in black-brown, white, white-stained oak effect and white high gloss.
Pauline measured the shelves she wanted to use as table “legs” so that they fit comfortably under the mirror already fixed to her wall.

She used a 20 volt handheld chainsaw to snip the ends off once the measurements were marked on.
Pauline used a heavy-duty glue to stick the three shelves together in the shape of a console, using her tape measure to ensure they were stuck evenly on either side of the ‘table’.
She used a cloth and her finger to remove any glue that was pushed out as the ‘table legs’ were fitted.
The final step was to stick felt tabs on the bottom of the shelves so they didn’t scratch the floor.

Pauline decorated her bespoke table with candles, a marble tray and books.
Fans of the design expressed their amazement with her “creative brain”.
“Wow what an amazing idea,” one commented on the video.
“I wouldn’t have even thought of that.”
“You’re a genius,” another said.
Pauline is the founder of Studio Ardesie, which specialises in interior architecture and design.
She went into this field after being “immersed” in the world of construction through her dad’s career.
“Having been immersed in this universe all her youth and surveyed her first construction sites on Wednesday afternoons, she naturally decided to practise in this field in her turn,” a biography on the expert reads.
“She notes a real lack of current thinking for everyday interiors.”
