BRITS facing this summer heat have been given a ticking-off pointing out people are getting it wrong when giving ice lollies a licking.
A TikTok user has admitted only just realising after decades of tucking into iced treats that she was failing when it came to even getting them unwrapped.
Sam Bearfoot posted footage of the moment the penny dropped for opening ice pops packets instead of biting into the plastic.
The business coach, from Dartford in Kent, filmed herself opting not to try chewing open the covering but instead simply snapping one in half.
She has captioned her online realisation with the words "Please tell me I'm not stupid?"
Yet her apparent revelation has received mixed reactions – with some viewers thanking her for the suggestion and only just realising their past mistakes, while others said they'd stick with alternative options.

Ice cream vans set to be BANNED from streets due to ‘unacceptable nuisance’
People have been scooping ice cream wrong – you don’t need a spoon
The 25-second clip on her @shelbbrazzell account suggests the new idea has only just occurred to her.
She tells viewers: "If this works – oh, for f***'s sake."
Speeded-up footage of her hurrying elsewhere is followed by the snap of an ice lolly in half, prompting Sam to sigh: "Forty-two years, I've been using my teeth."
The idea appeared to come as a pleasant surprise to many – with plenty of people describing it as a "game-changer".

One viewer assured Sam: "Don't worry, you're not the only one that's just learnt something new."
Someone else evidently impressed said: "Will have to go to the shops now to buy some more, just so I can try this."
The uploader was also told, "46 here and have been using my mouth or scissors", "My entire childhood was a lie" and "I've used my teeth since day one".
Others remarked, "How am I just learning this now?" and "That is an absolute game-changer – as kids we used to chew the ends off with our teeth".
Yet there were also more sceptical interventions.
One person trying to put the recommendation into action said, "I tried it and it worked, but using scissors is way better" – while another rued: "Nope, it's broken now."
A separate critic suggested, "I always cut mine with scissors because I hate having two parts" while other carps included "Been doing this for years" and "How did you not know this?"
Other ice pops tips people have offered include one mum's on how to prevent them from melting when heading to the park.
