Lady Gabriella Windsor married Thomas Kingston in a stunning Windsor wedding at St George’s Chapel in 2019. As the only daughter of Prince Michael of Kent and his wife Princess Michael, Lady Gabriella wore a tiara for her big day from her family’s vaults.
The Kent City of London Fringe Tiara first entered royal possession in the 1930s when it was gifted to Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark to mark her marriage to Prince George, Duke of Kent.
Although she was gifted the Kent City of London Fringe Tiara to celebrate her nuptials, Princess Marina opted for another fringe tiara for her wedding.
Marina wore the Vladimir Fringe Tiara, a piece from the collection of her mother Princess Nicholas of Greece and Denmark.
But as the Duchess of Kent, Marina was pictured wearing the Kent City of London Fringe Tiara at events over the years.
The Kent City of London Fringe Tiara has made several appearances at royal weddings in the decades since, including at the nuptials of Marina’s daughter Princess Alexandra and Angus Ogilvy in 1963.
Marina’s youngest child Prince Michael of Kent married Baroness Marie-Christine von Reibnitz in Vienna in 1978 and, after their ceremony, the new Princess Michael of Kent wore the diadem for the evening wedding reception.
Princess Michael’s daughter Lady Gabriella Windsor would follow suit, wearing the Kent City of London Fringe Tiara to her 2019 wedding.
The Kent City of London Fringe Tiara is similar in design to Queen Mary’s Fringe Tiara, the spiked diadem then Princess Elizabeth wore to marry the Duke of Edinburgh in 1947.

Queen Mary’s Fringe Tiara was worn by Princess Anne and Princess Beatrice to their respective weddings in 1973 and 2020.
Lady Gabriella Windsor wore a stunning white gown by Italian designer Luisa Beccaria for her wedding day three years ago.
The gown featured a sleek silhouette and a fitted bodice, overlaid with sheer lacy fabric.
The train of Gabriella’s gown was blush-cream and it was adorned with embroidered roses.
In her hands, Gabriella carried a bouquet of bright yellow blooms.
The Kent City of London Fringe Tiara kept her long sweeping veil in place.
Luisa Beccaria said Lady Gabriella was clear on what she wanted for her wedding dress “from the very beginning”.
She told Tatler: “She has a very strong personality and knows immediately what she wants.
“She always has an answer for every question.
“She visited our showroom in Milan alone, without her mother or her friends, which really impressed me.
“She had ideas of what she wanted from the very beginning.”
