KING Charles has decided not to strip Andrew and Harry from a major royal role – and has handed Princess Anne and Prince Edward a new job.
The King is set to widen a pool of 'counsellors of state" who can carry out constitutional roles when the monarch is abroad or unwell.
Currently, the five senior royals in post include Camilla Queen Consort plus the four most senior royal adults who are Prince William, Prince Harry, Prince Andrew and Princess Beatrice.
The House of Lords this week called for a "sensible amendment" because Harry lives 5,000-miles away in California and disgraced Andy has been dispatched from public life under a sex abuse cloud.
There are now moves for the list to be expanded to six so that Princess Anne, 72, and Prince Edward, 58, can fill in if required.
The diplomatic solution rather than axing Andy, 62, and Harry, 38, would spare the troublesome pair's blushes, it is understood.

Andrew was stripped of his royal roles in February but has been a Counsellor of State since his 21st birthday in 1981 and Harry since September 2005.
Viscount Stansgate told the House of Lords on Monday there must be a change to the Regency Act now Charles is King.
He said: "Otherwise, are the Government happy to continue with a situation where the counsels of state and regency powers may be exercised by the Duke of York or the Duke of Sussex, one of whom has left public life and the other of whom has left the country?
"Is it not time for the Government to approach the King to see whether a sensible amendment can be made to this Act?"
