Meghan Markle and Kate, Princess of Wales are both royal style icons who expertly rock both lavish gowns and casual attire alike.
Personal stylist, image coach and personal shopper Melissa Lund spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about the differences between their styles.
The expert claimed that while Meghan and Kate often wear “similar” outfits, there are still some “major differences” in the way they execute their looks. She suggested that Meghan has been a little more experimental.
Melissa said: “I think Meghan’s style is a little more fashionable than Kate’s and definitely sexier – she likes the drama and a more extreme silhouette.
“When Meghan was a working royal, she always pushed the envelope protocol. Apparently, the Queen didn’t dictate what royal princesses should or shouldn’t wear but it was well known that she wasn’t fond of trousers, nail polish, exposed knees and black being worn during the day for royal engagements!”

She continued: “Meghan wore a short hemlines, trousers and black fairly often.
“Now that Meghan is no longer a working royal, she’s free to wear what she likes without constraint.
“She has proudly stated that she doesn’t have a stylist and, as I’ve said before, she doesn’t always get it right when it comes to body shape etc but she is free to experiment. Kate is not.”
As the future Queen, Princess Kate is in a very different position, the expert claimed. Melissa suggested that she has gotten more reserved over the years.
She said: “Kate’s style has changed quite a bit in recent years. When she was first engaged to Prince William, her wardrobe was mainly high street with the odd designer item. She wore her skirts fairly short and favoured wedges (another thing Queen Elizabeth apparently wasn’t keen on).

“Now, her style has become very regal. Her clothes are mainly designer – with some high street items – they are very fitted and her skirts are worn long (too long for day wear, I think). Her heels are high (she favours Gianvito Rossi and Aquazurra) and there’s not an LK Bennett shoe (wedge or otherwise) to be seen.”
The stylist argued that the Princess goes go to extra lengths to ensure her attire is suitable for her royal role.
Indeed, she said: “Kate often alters designs to make them more modest (and therefore royal duties appropriate) and she will make the most of her designer items by retiring them for a few seasons before altering and rewearing them.”
Melissa pointed out that Meghan and Kate go for totally different looks when it comes to jeans, which speaks to their opposite approaches.
She said: “To see the difference between Meghan and Kate when it comes to clothes, you’ve only got to look at the way they wear jeans.
“Kate usually goes for skinnies in a solid colour with no distressing; she usually wears a neat jacket or Breton top.
“Meghan, on the other hand, has been seen in ripped and distressed denim, complete with hole in the knee, worn with an oversize shirt.”
