One person wrote: "Wash inside out with dark colours, and dry naturally. Don't put in the tumble dryer as that's what takes the colour out."
Another recommended: "Inside out and hang on the line to dry like that too."
"Inside out on a 20 wash," a third agreed.
Meanwhile a fourth said: "Inside out, 30/40 degrees, DO NOT TUMBLE DRY. Once washed, shake into shape, (no creases) dry inside out on radiator or hang on line (inside out)! Good luck."
Others revealed that adding salt to the drum of the washing machine can help the dye stick to the denim rather than fading.
One person suggested: "Put a tea spoon of salt in and wash cold."
A second commented: "Inside out with salt added to the water. Salt supposedly sets the dye so the don’t fade as badly later washes."
"Table spoon of salt stops the the fabric bleeding, put it direct into drum," added another.
Luckily, both hacks are free no matter which one you try as we know you have a tub of salt lying around in the kitchen cupboard somewhere.
