A MUM has shared her ultimate routine for white washes that gets everything “perfectly gleaming” again – but it’s raised some concerns.
Danielle Clarke mixes ACE Ultra for Whites, 15ml of thick bleach and oxi stain removing powder in a bathtub of cold water as the first step of her white laundry routine.
She leaves the clothes to soak in the chemical concoction for “a few hours”.
The routine is designed for “crusty dusty whites” and requires a bathtub soak as well as a machine wash.
But after sharing it on TikTok, people were quick to warn that Danielle’s homemade solution may produce toxic gas that's lethal if inhaled.
Also known as mustard gas due to its smell, it is typically produced from the combination of bleach and vinegar or ammonia.

“Be careful,” one viewer said. “Oxi and bleach are not meant to mix. It makes chlorine gas.
“They are super effective together, but you don’t want to breathe that in.”
“Erm, does that not make mustard gas?” a second challenged.
Mustard gas can kill you by causing respiratory problems, abdominal pain that leads to vomiting and diarrhea, flu-like symptoms and a build up of fluid in the lungs.

Symptoms may not happen immediately and can creep up on you after a number of weeks, ultimately leading to death.
Danielle was quick to shut down trolls and claimed that the quantities she uses in her concoction don't produce any deadly gases, but thanked people "for their concern".
TikTok cleaning expert Ann Russell weighed in that the method isn’t toxic too, according to Danielle.
Once the whites have soaked in the bathtub, she transports them to the washing machine for a mega hot wash.
“Sling it in the wash with normal washing tablets,” she instructed. “I’m using Persil ones and I’m absolutely loving them.
“Put it on a 90 degree wash. Yes, it’s three hours and 40 minutes.
“But I’m gonna say it again: you lot have your takeaways, I do an ‘effin white wash.”
Once the white load was washed and hung on the clothes horse, Danielle joked that they look “brighter than some people’s futures”.
Other viewers were concerned that a 90C wash may shrink their beloved whites but Danielle assured it’s been fine for her clothes.
She added that the high temperature wash is key to getting rid of the bleach stench out of your clothes after the bathtub soak.
This is the second time she has posted the laundry routine on TikTok.
Since her first post, it has garnered a number of supporters who took to the comment section of her recent video to praise it.
“I have to tell you that I’ve been doing this since I saw it early this year and my white always come out white now,” one said.
