A CASH-SAVVY woman has revealed how you can beat the cold this winter thanks to a 45p hack.
As the temperatures keep dropping and we're headed towards the dreaded arrival of winter, there's an issue that concerns cash-strapped families more than any other – the rising energy costs.
A recent study found that if you wanted to keep the central heating on all night for around eight hours, you should be prepared to face a hefty £13.44 bill.
This, The Sun added, worked out to be an astronomical £94.08 for the week.
But luckily, according to one woman, there is a heating hack that can help you slash the costs – and it's all thanks to a common cupboard essential, as well as a… sock.
The savvy woman, whose video was re-posted on TikTok by @the.cosyclub, claimed all you needed to do was pour in a cup of rice into a sock and tie it up before chucking in the microwave.

The DIY heating pad is amazing not just for keeping you warm but also soothing aches and pains naturally, experts at The Frugal Girls said.
''You can place around your neck to relax shoulder muscles, or place directly on another sore area to target those achy muscles with warmth.''
Fellow social media users raced to comments – however, the feedback was mixed, as not everyone had had the best experience with the budget-friendly hack.
''I tried this but the rice burnt and I only put it in for 30 secs,'' wrote one person.
Someone else chimed in: ''Seen this before, might have to give it a go!''
Another shared their favourite way to keep toasty in the cold mornings, writing: ''I just use a hair dryer.''
As the cost-of-living crisis keeps soaring, thousands of people have come to rescue with their top tips for staying warm – and one woman recently shared how she kept the room cosy for just £1.50 a day.
According to Claire Appleton, the solution is effective for slashing the bills – and it's all thanks to bargain buys from Amazon.
Taking to TikTok, the home interiors fanatic demonstrated how to make a DIY bioethanol fireplace, a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly hack that mimics a real flame.
Experts have said that while a bioethanol fireplace may not be as powerful, ''it still provides a significant amount of heat and can easily warm up a small to medium-sized room''.
To make the ''fake fire'', you will need a fire basket (£30), ceramic logs (£30), as well as the main star of the show – bioethanol fluid, which she had snapped up for £36.99 for a whopping 12l.
''Cheap to run and actually heats your room,'' Claire, from North Yorkshire, wrote in the caption.
''We have no radiator in the room currently (need to get one) and trust me, it works.''

What's more, the fake fireplace is also a great alternative to those who hate the mess regular logs leave.
Although she noted that it does smell ''a little'', Claire added the aroma is something you will get used to over time.
