People are just realising what the ridges on bottom of salt & pepper shakers are really for & it's blowing their minds | The Sun

YOU'VE probably used salt and pepper shakers countless times over the years and not thought twice about it.

But it turns out loads of people had no idea how you're actually supposed to use them and it's blowing their minds.


One food fan, named Cody, shared a clip to TikTok saying his ‘"mind was blown" after a waitress taught him the tricks of the trade. 

He asked: “How old were you when you learned the proper way to use a salt and pepper shaker?”

The short clip shows the woman demonstrate the proper way to get the most seasoning with a traditional salt and pepper shaker with grooves along the bottom.

While we’ve all ended up hitting the bottom to try and get the spices out, it turns her way is so much better.

All you need to do is rub the bottom of one shaker over the other in a circular motion.

It's that easy!

Demonstrating, she says: “See these ridges down here? This is the proper way to use the salt and pepper shaker.

“See how fasts it comes out.”

She compares her trick to traditional shaking, with an avalanche of salt pouring out when demonstrating her simple method. 

The video has racked up more than one million views, as other people left totally mind blown.

Commenting online, one person wrote: "Again TikTok showing me things I'd never know existed."

Someone else said: "This just messed with my mind, soul and body."

A third thought: "Everyone at the restaurant is going to be doing it now."

While this clever person claimed: "I've been doing this for years. Works way better."
