Queen Elizabeth news – Monarch suffers tragedy as childhood friend from inner circle dies | The Sun

THE QUEEN is facing tragedy following the death of one of her childhood friends.

Lady Myra Butter, who was widely regarded to be in both Her Majesty and Prince Philip's inner circle, had passed away in London at the age of 97.

Scottish-born Lady Butter, who leaves behind five children, was a distant relative of Tsar Nicholas I of Russia and poet, novelist and playwright, Alexander Pushkin.

She became friends with the Queen when they were both young girls after she was enlisted to join her in various childhood activities including swimming and attending Brownies.

She told The Telegraph last year: "They got hold of some girls to be part of the thing to make it more fun.

"In the Guides and the Brownies it was a real mixture, which was really nice, some friends, friends of [the family], and all the people in the Royal mews, their children, they were Brownies and Guides. Just a normal sort of pack really.”

William echoed Princess Diana when he 'deliberately broke' royal protocol at Euro 2022

As the victorious lionesses received their medals following their 2-1 vs Germany on Sunday, they met with Prince William, who gave each of them a hug.

A Royals expert believes it was Diana's love and affection that gave William the courage to do this.

Speaking to OK! magazine, former royal butler Grant Harrold said: "I think William and the other younger royals have realised that they can't get away with being aloof.

"The Queen can get away with it because she's the Queen and she's from a different era, but the younger royals have been brought up very differently."

Harrold also said William's affectionate nature is likely something he inherited from his mother Princess Diana – and believes the Duke had been raised with lots of physical affection.

"It won't feel unnatural to William – if anything, it'd feel more uncomfortable if it was just a strict handshake," he added.

    Ongoing legal battle leaves sour-taste

The ongoing legal battle between Harry and his home country have left a sour-taste, particularly after it emerged that the case has already cost the Home Office £90,094.79 and could have surpassed £100,000 since May.

It is understood that £55,254 on the Government's Legal Department, £34,824 on counsel and £16.55 on couriers make up the staggering figure.

Yet if Harry loses his court case, the Home Office would be awarded back its costs, reducing the cost to taxpayers too.

As well as the Government, the legal proceedings could cause a further rift in the Royal Family.

It emerged there were stark tensions among the royals after his lawyers revealed Harry believes the Queen's private secretary could have influenced the ruling.

The Duke's legal team said that Sir Edward Young “should not have been involved” in the February 2020 decision, adding there were "significant tensions" between the pair.

Prince Harry files SECOND lawsuit against Gov & Met

Prince Harry has filed his second lawsuit against the British Government and Scotland Yard – because they won't allow him to pay for police protection.

The Prince claims his family-of-four – including Meghan Markle, little Archie and baby Lilibet – are not safe to visit the UK without security guards around them.

The Duke sued the Home Office for the first time after its decision to remove his taxpayer-funded protection in 2020 – the first member of the Royal Family to sue the Government.

The dad-of-two said he is "unable to return to his home" from his new home in California because "it is too dangerous" without security.

Then Harry and Meghan were once again shocked when the Royalty and VIP Executive Committee refused to allow the couple police protection – even if they paid for it themselves.

The court told them that British police are not "guns for hire".

So now Harry has taken further action with a lawsuit against the Home Office and Metropolitan Police, the High Court confirmed to MailOnline on Thursday.

The Judicial Office said: "It is at an early stage, no hearings have been listed yet and no decisions have been made."

    Prince William shows inner Diana

A ROYAL expert believes Diana's love & affection gave Prince William the courage to break Royal protocol and hug our Euro heroines.

The Duke of Cambridge watched on at a packed Wembley as England beat Germany 2-1 to win Euro 2022- and hugged players as they received their medals, looking absolutely delighted as he did so.

And now a royal watcher believes William deliberately planned to break Royal Family protocol and hug some of the Lionesses as they defeated Germany 2-1 in extra time.

Speaking to OK! magazine, former royal butler Grant Harrold said: "I think William and the other younger royals have realised that they can't get away with being aloof.

"The Queen can get away with it because she's the Queen and she's from a different era, but the younger royals have been brought up very differently."

Prince William broke this major protocol rule

Royals are strictly not allowed to touch the public, but he deliberately broke the rule to show support to England's football team.

The Duke of Cambridge broke protocol when he hugged the players for the women's England football team, to show support for their recent amazing achievements.

A royal expert told OK! magazine that it was totally deliberate.

Grant Harrold said: "I think William and the other younger royals have realised that they can't get away with being aloof.
