The royals – both UK and beyond – are known for their extravagance and luxury when it comes to what they wear. However, sometimes royals, like Queen Maxima, surprise us and turn up to events in high street garments even non-royals can afford.
Queen Maxima looked radiant in a yellow blazer and matching trousers from Zara. Interestingly, yellow is a colour often associated with mental health. #HelloYellow takes place in the UK for mental health charity Young Minds.
Maxima’s blazer is currently not displayed on the website; however, of the ones currently available at Zara, none are more than £100 – and some are much less.
As for the trousers, while Maxima’s are not available, a similar pair in white goes for £32.99.
Maxima’s blouse is the Yellow Satin Tie Neck Blouse. Again, it is currently unavailable, but a pink blazer in a similar style goes for £49.99.
Maxima can often be found kitted out in designers including Benchellal and Claes Iverson, she is living proof that royal style does not always have to be unaffordable for regular folk.

As for accessories, Queen Maxima did pair her high street find with some more luxury items.
She held a shiny black bag by Carland Copenhagen called the ‘Aicha’ clutch, which she has been spotted in before.
The official product description reads: “Our famous Aicha clutch comes with an attachable light gold chain. An elegant clutch for a night out, which will fulfil any outfit of your choice.
“The Aicha clutch has a front flap closure and is made of the finest python skin from Malaysia. Wear it as a clutch or on the shoulder.”
The stunning accessory costs about £295. It previously cost £590.
She polished off the look with GIANVITO 105 Black Leather Pumps, costing £560.
These are available in 16 colours, including pink, which Crown Princess Mary of Denmark owns.
The royal opted for a pair of black statement earrings from Lott Gioielli.
For another pop of colour, she opted for red nail polish, glam makeup pink lipstick and pink eyeshadow.
She wore her blonde locks down and straight, and it was pictured blowing in the wind.
Queen Maxima fans took to Instagram to praise the royal’s latest monochromatic look – and compare her to another showstopping royal.
@luxmeagainpreloved said: “I remember this suit! Maxima can pull off this head-to-toe colour with flair. She totally owns it.
“Maybe she’s of the same mindset as Queen Elizabeth II. People need to see her, hence the colour, gorgeous flamboyant outfits, and stilletos. Whatever she chooses, I absolutely love her.”
@thia_bb added: “I love it. It’s so royal to dress in one colour from head to toes. Go for it!!!”
@nic.olepapa complimented the royal but also dished out some advice: “I unapologetically love this look. Maxima is the only royal that takes risks like this and I love it!
“The only thing is I wish somebody would help her out with her hair!”
However, her bright ensemble divided fans and not everyone was happy – comparing the Queen to some popular foods.
@jwann59480 said: “She looks like an omelette.” @clemiechaz added: “Is it an add for chicken nuggets? I am so sorry but this is so, so yellow?!”
@vasilkimichalitsi commented: “She urgently needs a new stylist.”
