Savvy shopper reveals how you can nab a £17 Marks & Spencer cake for £3 – & they even have cheap Colin the Caterpillars | The Sun

A BARGAIN lover has shared how fellow shoppers can enjoy a pricey Marks & Spencer cake for a mere £3.

Those who love a sweet treat will know just how much the prices of cakes have skyrocketed in the recent months – but according to shopper Lauren Taylor, there's a place where you nab a massive cake for a bargain deal.

The delighted foodie took to Facebook where she informed other money-saving Brits about the store, insisting they offer cakes made for supermarkets, such as Marks & Spencer, for way less money.

Lauren, from Manchester, said: ''If you haven’t already been to Park cakes company shop in Oldham then you’re missing out.''

According to Laura, she had popped into the store and managed to get her hands on a scrumptious Red Velvet cake for £3.

She added that the high-street supermarket, on the other hand, was selling this cake for an eye-watering £35 – although, later she clarified Marks & Spencer were offering the dessert for £17.

The cake factory, founded in 1937, is famous for baking products for big brands, such as M&S, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Aldi.

The factory is well known amongst the locals – but what many may not know is that it also has its own outlet store that's open to the general public.

According to Manchester Evening News, the store offers goodies that haven't quite made the grade inside the factory – which why it is sold at really low prices.

Sharing the news on the popular Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK page, Lauren also uploaded a snap of the cake.

''Absolutely nothing wrong with it either and it’s best before the 13th of July,'' the foodie added in the post.

She went on to add that the store has even more goodies you can nab, such as the cult favourite Colin the Caterpillar.

''They have giant bags of brownies , flap jacks, mini Colin the Caterpillar for £2 and normal Colin the Caterpillar cakes , fresh cream cakes and Swiss chocolate rolls for 70p, and giant chocolate fridge cakes for £6 that are like £60 in marks and Spencer’s [sic].''

Needless to say, the post soon went viral, racking up a whopping 1.1k likes and more than 500 comments.

But despite being affordable, the £3 cake left the social media users divided – and not everyone was impressed with the deal.

One such person said: ''To me this look’s completely different.''

Another reckoned: ''I used to work at park cakes factory & they has to be something wrong with the cake to go to company shop, even if it’s just something unnoticeable to public but a mistake on the factory’s end what can’t be changed.''

''Thank goodness I live a long way from this shop. Slimming world,'' a foodie chuckled.
