A SAVVY fashion fan has revealed a nifty trick to fix bottoms that are too loose at the waist – and all you need is a shoelace.
Those with a smaller waist and larger thighs will be familiar with the frustration of shopping for trousers or shorts – if the waist fits perfectly, you legs are squeezed and vice versa.
Luckily, rather than forking out a fortune to have them altered, one fan of fashion has come to rescue with an easy hack that involves using a shoelace.
The style enthusiast, whose video was shared by @fashion_forever_q6 on TikTok, said you only needed a pair of scissors, a shoelace, a safety pin, as well as five minutes.
''So I bought these – obviously, too big,'' the blonde said whilst trying on the beige bottoms.
''But my thighs are too thick to buy a smaller size.''

The first step, the fashionista instructed, was cutting a hole on the inside lining of your trousers.
This is done in the middle by the button on both sides, she demonstrated in the video.
Once done, grab your shoelace – string works just as fine – and attach a hairpin at the end of it.
''You're just gonna stick it in the one side and feed it all the way through to the other side.

The best part? Not only was it easy and cheap, there was also no awkward bulging at the waist area.
Just as amazed were people on social media, hundreds of whom flocked to comments to thank the stunner.
One said: ''practical heck, thank you Lady.''
Another had seen the trick just in time, writing: ''Thank you! you just saved my brand new pants that I've abandoned because it doesn't fit me well haha.''
Someone else recommended: ''Instead of shoestring, put the elastic band so it’s more comfortable and you can sew it in a few places so it doesn’t move.''
''NOT NEW… has existed for decades, is on most children’s trousers….'' one TikTok fan was not particularly impressed.
A parent wondered: ''my kids all have this in their jeans. elastic band. like why can't adults have that too for fluctuating. jeezz.''
